Co-production a first for BC

King's Company is excited about being the first BC production of this new musical. According to the Children's Letters to God official website the only other Canadian productions have been in Calgary and Sault St. Marie.

Two successful drama camps at South Delta Baptist Church in July and August were the catalyst for this production of Children’s Letters to God. All camp students were eligible to perform in the upcoming musical. As Musical Director Tracy Neff states, "This is a unique opportunity for our students to showcase their talents.  Students learned many of the songs during our camp weeks and are now ready to perform them in a full production. I know our audiences will love this show!"

Jim Martens is directing the scene work between songs and the construction of the set. And Jenn Harbott is helping the lead characters with their solo work.

Children's Letters to God is a real co-production involving the cast in all aspects of the show. Co-director Jim Martens explained the rationale. He said, "We want our students to understand that being a competent performer on stage is just one component of a successful production. To this end we've even involved them in earning a portion of the ticket sales! Students receive $2.00 for every Adult ticket they sell and $1.00 for every Senior/Student ticket they sell. We think we'll see some very successful entrepreneurs when the show is done. And hopefully full houses for all three performances!"

Production takes place at South Delta Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall. Tickets are limited to 150 seats per performance so getting tickets early is recommended. Dates and times are: Saturday, August 27th at 7:30 PM and Sunday, August 28th at 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM.

Tickets are $10 (Adults) and $5 (Seniors/Students) and are available Sunday at the church ticket table or by calling South Delta Baptist Church at 604-943-8244 between 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Monday to Friday) or leaving a message on King's Company's phone line (604-948-2573).
